A note from Pagoda's leadership:

To our community and teammates,

George Floyd, Tamir Rice, Freddy Gray, Philando Castile, Breonna Taylor, Walter Scott, Eric Garner, and Michael Brown are only a few of the black men and women who have died at the hands of police officers in our country. Like many of you, as I watched the video of Mr. Floyd’s life slipping away over minutes, I could not help but think that he could be any one of the wonderful black men in my life. Every day I worry about what could happen to my 14 year-old nephew as he begins to spread his wings and to make his way in this world. I want him to have every privilege that this nation offers. I want him to go out in the world without fear that the color of his skin will prevent him from being an old man one day having lived a full, fear free life. I want that for every person in this country.

I love the fact that we celebrate diversity at Signet and Piercing Pagoda. Embracing diversity has shown to make companies stronger. Why wouldn’t embracing diversity make our country stronger? We as a nation have to face the fact that we have never treated all persons as equals. And after facing that fact, we all need to take steps to address our own biases and be willing to step up and out with friends and loved ones when they demonstrate theirs. Because we all have the right to live freely and equally in this country no matter race, religion, creed or sexual and gender orientation.

Signet has donated $100,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, one of America’s premier legal organizations fighting for racial justice through public education, advocacy and litigation. We condemn the acts of racism, injustice and violence. We will continue to educate and act as we demonstrate that love is stronger than hate, and we will prevail.

Let’s be the change.
